Medical Care
Medical Department at KYUMH
We are an advocate for the health of the youth here at The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children & Youth. We are here to help youth to achieve their goals and be healthy. We encourage and strive to keep the residents as comfortable and healthy as possible. We monitor all records to keep updated including; shot records, eye exams, dental exams, school physicals, sick visits, medical history, allergies, medications and communicate with other departments for the needs of our youth.
The Medical Department also teaches Medication Administration to new employees, CPR, and a Monthly Medication update on topics that benefit the employee working with the residents. We also teach the residents themselves on health topics such as; Healthy Diet and Exercise, Allergies, Sunburn Prevention, Infection Control, Stress Relief and many more topics. We strive to inform our staff and residents on information that will benefit all that are on our campuses.
Psychiatrist - At the Versailles Campus a psychiatrist comes weekly to see the residents on campus and evaluates the medication and discuss treatment with the resident, and is on call for any needed changes. The Mary Kendall Campus uses RiverValley Behavioral services to address psychiatric services and medication management.
Campus RN - Each campus has their nurse on campus daily and on call 24 hours a day. The nurse evaluates the needs of the residents in order to get them to what they may need, for example doctor's care, therapist, medications, etc.
Medical Youth Worker - Takes residents to and from medical visits, makes appointments for medical visits, and helps keep youth in Medical Cottage if sick. The workers are also responsible for keeping and updating records.
